27.11.2010,

First day of the CCT tournament in Wetzikon.

Yesterday's arrival to the tournament venue was marred by a malfunctioning navigation system and a slightly extended route. Later in the evening we visited the hall (a beautiful, bright six-lane with a spacious clubhouse) and then retired to bed. In the morning we had breakfast at 7am and a marathon of three matches awaited us. The first opponent - Russia (skip Zyablikova). After an even game and a bit unlucky deuce in the seventh end, we go into the last end two down with the advantage, but fail to play the necessary number of stones for the extra end. First loss. After a good lunch the next opponent is the world champions, the Germans. Andrea has some great shots against us, but also some shaky moments in the lead game. Our last rock in the match is a nearly unplayable double on deuce that would have put us into the extra end. It didn't work out, but oh well, we were christened the best team in the world and Europe at the moment. At the end of the day, the win comes after all. The victim was the Swiss from Lucerne (skip Wild). The other Czech teams playing here are doing well. Klímová has two wins, against the Italians and the Germans, Synáčková beat the Finns. photo: Andrea
