First tournament 2023.

The WCT tournament in Perth, Scotland, is scheduled for the first week of January 2023. This year it is announced for 24 men's and 12 women's teams. Two Czech teams are also going to the mother country of curling. Women led by Alžbeta Zelingrová and men skipped by Lukáš Klíma. A cute little detail was the experience from Glasgow airport, where at one point the Czech players noticed that an elderly lady was slowly disappearing from the airport hall together with a turquoise suitcase, which beyond any doubt belonged to the coach of the team. They stopped her and after checking the luggage it was indeed proven that the curling shoes and the computer charger inside the reflective shell were Karel Kubeška's. The lady got nervous, declared that she had the same suitcase, and headed back to the strip. A moment later, she emerged with an exact replica of the turquoise suitcase and everything became clear. We still thought it was great that we had allowed our obviously related luggage such an unusual reunion and soon we were sitting in a taxi heading for Perth. We know the area well, and that includes the Mercury Hotel, where we have experienced several fire alarms in the past. The tournament itself started in the afternoon and the women's team succumbed to the Norwegians (Rorvik) in a not very good game from 6pm local time. Especially the sixth end, after an evenly matched game, got completely out of hand and took away all our hopes of winning. After a hard day of difficult travel we are tired and we are going to go to the bowling early to play better tomorrow.
