Robin Trower.

The latest album by 80-year-old bluesman Robin Trower was released a few days ago and has received fairly favorable reviews across music magazines and websites, as well as a relatively warm reception from listeners. The album Come and Find Me (May 16, 2025) contains 11 tracks and runs just over forty minutes. The very first notes of Trower's guitar reveal that the blues feeling and Hendrix-esque sound are fundamental attributes that have persisted throughout this veteran's sixty years of active career. The album's title is an invitation to several generations to seek out Trower's work, both new and old. There are many reasons to do so. One of the main ones is certainly Robin's exceptional place among the best guitarists of all time. Proof of this is the groundbreaking 1974 album Bridge of Sighs, with which Robin Trower made his mark on the American market and, thanks to a successful series of concerts, built a reputation as an exceptionally inventive and powerful guitarist. The opening track of the current album, "A Little Bit of Freedom," which was released in advance as a single, is appropriately raw and, thanks to its minor key progressions and use of the wah-wah effect, clearly "Trower-esque." "One Go Round" continues in the same vein with precise riffs.  The fourth track is the title track, "Come and Find Me." Richard Watts' vocals blend perfectly with the blues arrangements and logically intertwine with Robin's subtle improvisations. The whole album comes across as pleasant and friendly, and although it won't knock the masses off their feet or dazzle them, it has great added value for Robin Trower fans. It is also a reminder of his colorful artistic career. A native Londoner, he began his long musical career as a member of Procol Harum, with whom he released several albums in the late 1960s. Unfortunately, his name is missing from the list of musicians on the mega-hit A Whiter Shade of Pale (1967). The focus of his work subsequently shifted to his solo career, which includes nearly thirty albums and countless concerts.  In addition to all this, he also managed to collaborate closely with Jack Bruce (ex-Cream) and Bryan Ferry. Guitarist Robin Trower's album Come and Find Me is a pleasant musical affair.
