Semi against the Norwegians, fi against the Swiss.

At nine in the morning we played one of the best teams in the world, the Norwegians. Forty-year-old skip Marianne Roervick led her team to the World Championship final this spring, but the Norwegians fell to the phenomenal Swiss (Tirinzoni). Marianne has gold from the junior championships (2004) and she and her teammate Kristin Skaslien form a very strong back-end pair. Kristin already has two Olympic medals in the Mixed Doubles category, a silver and a bronze. The key end was - how else - end number six, in which we gave a deuce in an evenly matched situation and then held the lead with a great defensive and disciplined performance. Shortly after winning 7 : 5 we played the final against the Swiss (Schwaller) on lane number three. The opponent was better for most of the match and did not allow us to set up promising situations. When they did, skip Xenia Schwaller was able to save the day with a perfect throw. In the last end we needed a three on the extra end, but the Swiss defended. The second place in a well-attended tournament is a success for the five of Anna, Michaela, Aneta, Klara and Karolina. In the men's event, Craik of Scotland won ahead of Kraus of Denmark.
