Even more impressed with the Czechs' win over the Canadians in mixed doubles, the men took on the reigning world champions, the Swedes. A few hours earlier, the Czech women had fallen to the Swiss, and while they were far from even, they were still actually a bit behind. The men's match had the Norse going up 4 : 0, but then the Czechs messed with the Swedes' heads reducing it to 3 : 4 and after dramatic endings with many stones in the rings it went into the eighth end with the score tied without an advantage. Quality clearing and a final hit and stay earned the Swedes the win. A neat match with many exciting moments can be an encouragement for the next matches. But a win would have been better.
