North American day of Czech curlers.

The day really started with a duel between the Czech juniors and the Canadians. The first match at the World Championship was played by three players of our team, namely Eva, Klára and Iveta. But they performed like seasoned matadors. After six ends, they saw off the scrappy Canadians 10 : 3 and that was it!! We briefly discussed the precious opening victory over lunch. It all goes very quickly in a row, so before the ceremony the Czech men also managed to play a match against the always precisely prepared Swiss. Our errors in estimation allowed our regular rivals to gain a decisive lead in the second half of the match. The Czechs' effort and combativeness was not enough this time. The opening ceremony was simple and short, which was highly appreciated by the majority of those present. Only the catering got complicated, but we managed. The transport between the hotel and the hall is working well so far. Somewhat problematic is the occasional noise from the discos that are in the local hotel. I remember that this problem occurred already four years ago at the MSJ, but it has somehow subsided over time. So we will see. We weren't the only ones who complained. The evening game between the Czechs and the USA started promisingly. Without an advantage, they managed to play first one, then even three. It looked like we were in the mood and nothing was going to stop us. The American girls changed their tactics and tried to play clean defense on us, and oh my, it started to work. They got to within a single point, but we played for two in the eighth end, and in the ninth we scored for one without advantage (maybe two - but we'll never know), so by the tenth 8 : 4 was very good. Clara then after a couple of inaccurate defensive throws hit a beautiful double clear and the second win was in the world. We are happy and keep her with us.
