It's mid-July and we know that the 2023/2024 curling season is about to begin in earnest. Four teams have attended the traditional preparatory camp. First of all, the national women's team, which is preparing to participate in Group A of the European Championships in November (Aberdeen, Scotland), then the junior men's team, which will have its peak this year at the World Championship B in Finland in December (Lohja). Physical preparation, model trainings, sports games and quite detailed active insight into the exotic martial sport of taekwondo was also mastered by the junior mixed doubles team and another ambitious men's team, which will taste the Czech Extraliga for the first time in the upcoming season. Despite the rigours of the weather, which offered temperatures reaching thirty-five degrees, the prepared programme was maintained and apart from many hours in the gym and several demanding, outdoor Martial Arts sessions, there was time for beach volleyball, tennis or football. The Nymburk venue, despite the pool not working this year, offered as always a nice service in the form of housing, catering and prepared sports facilities. We would love to return next year, and maybe with some Olympic points, won at the spring World Championships, to our credit.
