rnSo it's already played out, and it's only Wednesday. There were four games on Tuesday and twelve on Wednesday. That tournament is a concept in curling. It's played in Cornwall, a town of less than 50,000 people about an hour's drive from Montreal. The tournament is named after the famous icemaker Clarence W. Jenkins who, among other things, became famous for introducing the measurement of stone speed to improve the quality of the ice. I managed to meet him at a Canadian tournament in the early 2000s. What sticks in my mind is the considerable respect everyone had for him and, of course, the pink cowboy hat on his head that was his trademark. This year's SJC has a very strong cast as you can see from the attached photo. We got to try out the playing conditions at a few practice sessions in the six-lane indoor arena. Our line-up is now complete again and includes skip Anna, who defended the interests of curlers at the congress in Mexico last week and was therefore absent from the second Oakville tournament. The ice in the hall has had its evolution so far, with speeds fluctuating a bit and the offset changing quite significantly over time. But already Wednesday's round of play showed an improving trend. We start Thursday morning with Tirinzoni.
