I have long considered the Swiss team (skip Silvana Tirinzoni) to be one of the top three women's curling teams in the world. Today we played our first match against them starting at 9:00. We got the advantage of the last stone, but we were under pressure from the very beginning. The virtually flawlessly playing Swiss, who must still have the fourth place from the medal-winning Olympics in their stomachs, dominated and forced us to play heavy stones. We defended practically every end and couldn't create the slightest pressure. Bětka managed to keep the Czech stock afloat with a few saving throws, but we could only dream of a deuce or a higher point gain. After eight ends, with the score 3 : 10, we congratulated our opponents on their victory. We have the afternoon free and in the evening we have to face the Japanese, who lost to the Germans and Canadians, but otherwise this young foursome from the land of the rising sun shows a sympathetic, technically mature performance, with only some minor tactical mistakes. We'll try to use those small hesitations to our advantage and get a second win.
