The Scots and Italians outplayed us.

The early match (kick-off at 8.00) with Team Scotland brought the boys' team their first loss. We gave up after the seventh end, but the game had its important moment in the second end when we narrowly missed a freeze (late throw) and then young Muirhead played a brilliant take out and the Scots went up by three. A small tactical error in the fifth end sent us into a six stone deficit and that was beyond us. The Scots were better. Their management team is awe-inspiring, sending Gordon Muirhead, a multiple world championship participant, 1999 world champion, and Rhona Martin, 2002 Olympic champion, to Denmark. Rhona is driving a black Mercedes and the whole thing gives the impression of a team from another planet.rn

The girls had the Italians on the schedule, which is always a tense match. The Italians got out to a big lead but after mistakes gave the Czechs a chance to come back. The final score of 9:5 does not adequately express the overwhelming nervousness that accompanied the ending, in which our team was closing the gap on their opponents. It can be said that the first part of today's day brought losses. The second, on the other hand, was and is marked by wins. First, the men defeated the Spanish team clearly 8:2 and in the evening match the Czech team is now leading the Dutch team 8:1 after four ends. I believe in our girls so much that I am not afraid of jinxing it.
