Eva and Anna competed together at the World Championships back in 2007. It was the junior championship and Anna won. They have faced each other many times since then. Often they have been evenly matched, but gradually the balance has developed better for Eve Muirhead. The Scottish skip's experience includes everything imaginable, including the Olympics and the Continental Cup. The evenly matched match between the Czech team and the Scottish team culminated in a tied tenth end. The red stone was a few centimetres better at the end and it belonged to the Scots. A very good performance of the Czech girls was not crowned by a win, but "just" a good feeling of promise for the continuation of the championship. The shower came next, and from an unexpected side. National coach Brad Askew rushed into the 40-minute break before the match with the Swiss with a sensational statement. Apparently the WCF had decided to solve the problem of rescheduling our game against Denmark by letting us play three games in a row on the last day. For the less familiar, that means about nine hours on the ice with little to no rest or meal breaks. Never in the past has such a thing happened and supposedly there is nothing we can do about it because there is no other solution. Our frustration was huge, especially since we needed to concentrate on the upcoming game and this heated debate really didn't help. A bit angry and quite disappointed with the way we were treated, we started well against the Swiss, but after half an hour we started to make mistakes and were quickly outplayed by our precision-playing opponents. We need to shake off our indignation and play well for the rest of the tournament tomorrow.
