Kubešková, Plíšková, Herdová, Jalovcová and Illková defeated the national team of Latvia (participant of Group A of the European Championships, skip Stasa) in the first match on Saturday and then they played the decisive match for advancement to the quarter-finals against the currently second team of Switzerland (skip Tirinzoni). The game was for direct qualification, that is everything. There was a little nervousness on our side at the beginning, and this caused some inaccurately played stones. The decisive point was probably the fifth end when, after a very complicated course, the Czechs played a risky stone which resulted in a Swiss one without advantage. Tirinzoni withstood our final onslaught and together with Schoepp advanced from our group to the quarterfinals. The other Czech teams did not reach the quarterfinals in Wetzikon either.
