A solid double.

Robyn Munro, the skip of the Scottish foursome, is an experienced representative despite her youth. She already has forty wins in the Scotland jersey from the World Junior Championships, the Winter Universiade and the EYOF. Her team, however, was no match for the Czechs today. Everything happened so fast - in five ends 1 : 9, that we still had time for a second breakfast in the hotel. We got back before ten, and that was enough for a few croissants and extra coffee. The post-match and post-breakfast meeting, attended by Wade Scoffin, the newly appointed national coach, included both a detailed analysis of the match and preparation for the final group game. While the certainty of advancing to the extra group stage from first place after three wins was pleasing, it may have also required additional motivation. However, the Czech team did not need anything special, psychologically stimulating. We play with them often and we know that besides their huge experience they are one of the teams that can prepare well for any competition. The first part belonged to the Danes, who were more accurate and benefited from very precisely played last stones, which always thwarted our plans. But the last three ends belonged to us. After careful play and well-chosen approaches, we first played a deuce, then let the Danes down to just a deuce and scored a deuce in the last end. The win 7 : 6 is ours and we are happy about it. Tomorrow's semi-final is at 9:00.
