Feeling accommodations, working public transportation, and good weather that made it possible to walk from the hotel to the curling hall. These are so far the essential attributes that accompany the Czech national women's team in the capital of one of the Scandinavian countries, Norway, a city of three quarters of a million people. The journey from the Quality Expo Hotel to the Snarøya is flanked along the coast by newly built houses with spacious balconies. Electric cars whiz by, and when one meets a foursome of men or women, it's probably a curling team. Icemaker from CC Bygdøyou were right when you said the conditions in the competition hall would be different. The ice is extremely fast, in places sixteen seconds hog - hog on the tee line, but the stones lack finish and the swing is at a maximum of three feet, in some places even less. We were not able to cope with the change in conditions, among other things because our entire training program in Prague was accompanied by solid technical parameters of the ice and stones, which ironically hurt us a bit in the beginning of the tournament. Our opponents from Turkey (skip Dilşat Yildiz) didn't worry too much about it and beat us in their first tournament match. We could only lament our fickle luck when in a well played third end, which could have meant three points for us, we unluckily "burned" a stone and had a hard time taking the number one spot out of necessity. After the match we discussed everything in detail and we hope to do better in the afternoon match against Switzerland tomorrow.
