Women's Sports.

Some team sports are very active in leveling the playing field when it comes to the conditions affecting access to competitive and elite sports for women and men. It is quite evident that the key is not in creating a single discipline in which both genders compete side by side, but in understanding the differences and striving to offer equal conditions to both women and men. On Friday, June 19, 2026, starting at 2:00 p.m., there was much to see and hear in the conference area of the Stages Hotel in Prague. Floorball, soccer, and hockey not only presented their visions for supporting female athletes and creating a safe and inspiring environment for them, but also offered detailed and often candid behind-the-scenes insights into their preparatory processes. They familiarized conference participants with their work systems, approaches to motivation, financing, marketing, coaching arrangements, and the organization of club and association activities, among other topics. Particularly interesting were the presentations by Pavel Liehman, mental coach of the women’s national hockey team, and Pavla Satrapová and Martina Pavlová on the development of Czech women’s soccer. The prestige of the conference was underscored by the participants in the panel discussion, which included representatives from the most prominent Czech sports institutions (National Sports Agency – Ivo Jebousek, the Czech Olympic Committee – Petr Graclík, the International Ice Hockey Federation – Petr Bříza, and the Office of the Minister for Sport, Health, and Prevention – Jana Havrdová). It was heartening to see the participation of a whole host of young female athletes, who spontaneously shared their experiences and asked the panelists insightful questions. Curling listened attentively, and let’s hope it will soon be able to integrate itself into these processes. The excellent organization of the conference and the dignified setting in which it took place are a promising sign that Czech sports institutions will continue to address the issue of women’s sports.
