Sweden is one of the countries represented in both categories at the Universiade. While in the men's section the big Swedish star is Nicolas Edin in the women's section it is the team skip Stina Viktorsson who led the Swedish national team to sixth place at the last Women's World Championships (the Swedes beat the Czechs there 7 : 3). The Nordic women's academic selection is made up of two halves, one is the players from the adult championship team and the rest are silver medalists from the last World Junior Championships. The match started badly, we were a bit nervous and made tactical and technical mistakes. We went into the break at 3 : 6, having missed a good chance at two. The break helped us. We refined our game and tactically we stuck to our best practices. Especially with a three against in the sixth end we broke the Swedes' existing confidence and from then on it was just one team on the ice. The desperation of the opponent is also documented by the fact that after nine ends at 11 : 6 for the Czech Republic, it was still played for a while as if the Swedes did not believe that such a turnaround in the match could happen. Again, we had some minor disputes with the local crowd and the organizers, but it all stems more from the different culture and the different understanding and perception of sport in this country.
