We had our first practice and LSD zero. Hasselborg (skip of the Swedes) had a tee line, but what's the use, zero is zero. The first part of the match is in our hands. A few mistakes, but evenly distributed in moments where it bothered the opponent more than us. We hold the lead and go into the ninth end with a one up advantage. A generally unsuccessful end with some serious misses is eventually one for the Swedes (after measuring). We start the tenth end (5 : 5 with advantage) well - Zuzka twice a nice weight, only the angle where the stones are in the ring betrays us later. Martina plays clear, the direction is ok, even on the bonus, but then it happens - the most incredible "lick" sends the Swedish stone behind the two of ours in the circle into a position where it's impossible to get at it. As the Swede stone is about 15 cm from the centre we have no choice but to try an angle raise to five metres with the last stone, which we miss by about half a metre. Too bad, the win was really close. Bad luck at the end and a slightly less concentrated performance in the ninth end did not allow us to register a double today. But the tournament is just beginning and we have to concentrate on the Swiss. Today they outplayed the Scots and have a very noisy clan in the hall. In the morning, Jirka and I will prepare something for them. photo: Jirka
