The Czech team (Klíma, Candra, Paul, jirounek, Chaloupek) easily coped with the Swedish academic team. At times it even looked as if the Swedes were resigned to losing. The win is important before the final duels with the USA and Korea for advancement to the tournament's superstructure. The women's game against China was interesting until the end. This was due to the evenly matched course (the result was 5 : 6 for China), but also because of the Chinese women's attempt to influence the outcome of the ninth end, when Anna threw the last draw on deuce exactly on the tee and one of the Chinese women came up with the accusation that the Czechs had set fire to the stone and should go out of the game. There was a big discussion about this, with the participation of a Chinese translator, which was eventually moderated by one of the umpires. The whole thing was a bit embarrassing and alarming at the same time. In a discussion with some of the other coaches after the match, it became apparent that this was the umpteenth attempt by the Chinese to interfere in an unsportsmanlike manner, to unsettle their opponents and simply gain some sort of advantage. It didn't affect our match this time, as the Chinese were slightly better, but it's a bad signal for the future of our sport. photo:
