The Eye-on-the-hog system is disabled.

The only match of the Czech women's team today took place from 14.00 local time and the opponent was the Danes. The Dupont sisters returned from the Beijing Olympics a few weeks ago. Both Madeleine and Denise have been representing Denmark for a long time and have won several medals in top events. We have been grinding our teeth against them regularly for years and have managed to beat them several times. Each round starts with a light and music show, hosted by Stu Brown in English and Mathieu Crevier in French. Each time, one selected team will introduce themselves by name to the audience. There were about eight hundred of them today. The main reason was that Canada was playing against Japan in lane B. At one point we suffered a bit from a loud ovation, through which we could not communicate well at an important stone. Our match played on lane C was of a pretty decent standard, from both sides. We took a two point lead but the Danes knitted a three in the ninth and we only countered with a one in the tenth end. So the extra end came, the second one for us at this World Championship. The situation in the rings became so complicated that the whole fate of the match hung on the very last stones. We were left with an English raise, but we hit a different stone than the one we needed, and the win went to the Danes. The Czech team has the rest of the day off, the evening round is without us.

Once again, the electronic system for checking compliance with the rule about a player releasing a stone on the throwing hog-line failed. After many technical time-outs and repeated adjustments to the technology, the umpires and icemakers agreed to shut down the entire system. Oh yeah.
