Czech curling players took advantage of the national holiday of the establishment of the independent Czechoslovak Republic to play the maximum number of games in the highest competition - the Extraliga. From Saturday to Monday, the Roztyl hall was packed. The format of the competition is a bit different this time than in previous years. The current champion does not play the regular season, but has the right to practice on game days or play friendly matches. It is also less usual that the men's and women's leagues are played at the same time. In the men's section, the top teams are Liboc 1M with five wins from five games played and Kolibris 1 with five wins and one loss. In the women's division, Zbraslav and two teams from Savona are in the lead. The most attractive for the spectators, however, was the friendly duel between the Czech national teams, the current champions. The match was part of the preparation for the upcoming European Championships. The ladies, led by skip Anna Kubešková, outplayed the men (skip Lukáš Klíma) and after only seven ends received congratulations for the victory. Two and a half weeks to go before the departure for the 2019 European Championships in Sweden. photo: Czech national teams
