Tie-break, Czech Republic vs. Poland.

Again against the Poles. From the team meeting we took away information about the course, stones, order of training and advantage. The figure eight was a bit of a problem during practice, so we treated it as a loose stone. We just played it when it seemed to fit. In their last game in the group, the Poles clearly beat the French, so we had respect for them again. The first end went well. With a final, sensitively played stone we push our opponent's only stone out of the rings and score a three. The next end is well played and looks like our one. The Poles desperately try to move into the rings but miss completely, taking our stone on the side over which they slide our best out of the rings and with the words "sorry" they score a three. It takes us a moment to recover, but we answer again with a three and then add a two. In the rest of the game we don't give our opponent a chance and the game ends 11-3 with our accurate double take out in the seventh end. We are happy, we are among the best six teams in the world. Tomorrow we have the Hungarians, who handled the Swedes with a focused and calm game. The Scots, the Russians, the Danes, the USA, the Norwegians, the Swedes, the home Italians and other major curling countries are out of the game. photo (by Jirka) from the match
