Before the Olympic tournament gets underway, it's time to determine who will be playing in the Olympic tournament. The only vacancy left after the final round robin matches was in the men's section, and it could be filled by the British or the Norwegians. Advantage Norway and the first part of the match better for the players in the brightly coloured pants, that was the picture of the tie-break in the Ice Cube. The conclusion, however, was riveting. In the ninth end the Brits forced the Northerners to a one-all and in the last end they went on a major offensive. Before the Norwegians' last stone, the situation was unfavourable for the islanders. Ulsrud could have played so that Murdoch would have had nowhere to play his last stone. But perhaps nerves, which incidentally had the Norwegians on the march throughout the match, caused the played stone to be much faster than it should have been. The Brits were left with the decision of whether to play for one and the extra end, or try a risky runback double. After consultation with the coach, David played it and it was two for two!!! The win belongs to the Brits as does the play-off position against the Swedes. The heroes of this game wore black pants and white jackets - they were from Scotland.
