After breakfast at the Royal Hotel (egg omelette, tea with lemon and honey) we had our first training. The five of Kubeska, Létal, Krampera, Fiala and Candra took to the lanes with the aim to read the ice and rocks. The hour went by quickly and we had a nine-minute practice to form for the afternoon session. After lunch was a team meeting where the head umpire and his colleagues introduced themselves. The tournament is run virtually identical to the championships organized by the WCF. At the afternoon training session we fine-tuned the logistics of the game and went on a tour of the town of Ranfurly. The food and drink shopping that replenished our supplies culminated in tonight's barbecue, with Jirka as head chef. Tomorrow is the opening ceremony of the WGNZ curling tournament and we take on the home team for our first match this afternoon.
