A hearty breakfast containing everything we needed was the start of our somewhat fragmented day. In the morning we had a team meeting in the Tondiraba hall. Everything would have been ok and basically normal if we hadn't been hit by Peter Lindholm's cunning question if the stones used for the championship (which, by the way, were also used for the first round of the World Cup) would be fitted with the same layout. Scott correctly replied that he didn't know, whereupon there was a request that he somehow find out. The reply was that it probably couldn't be done and back came the question, is he sure? The reason was obvious, Peter, with the help of Wayne Midaugh, wanted to save his team the work and gain an advantage for the Swedes by using his knowledge of the stones (and especially their combination with the handles) and not having to do the matching. Oh well. Those of us who don't go to the World Cup may be a little jealous, but in all honesty, the Swedes' request didn't seem ethical to me. After lunch we have some time off and then in the afternoon we have a practice session (5 x 12 minutes), followed by an evaluation combined with dinner and the day is almost over. These training days are always terribly choppy and you feel like you've done nothing. Tomorrow we have the opening ceremony and the first game. It's against the Swedes.
