The men took on the USA in today's opening round. On paper, we were the favourites, and it looked like it until the halfway point. A three on our opponent's advantage after a weak draw by the US skip catapulted us into a 4 : 0 lead. And when the American inadvertently made one in the fifth end, the match looked good for us. However, the seventh end ended with a deuce from our opponent after a few inaccuracies from us and things got a bit tricky. The very end brought a dramatic spectacle with a happy ending for us. Blake Morton didn't play hit and stay at number two and the 5-4 win was more pleasing than the performance. Tonight we will face the upstart Koreans who narrowly lost to Canada. The women go up against the Poles in an hour and a half and a win will mean seventh place. It won't be an easy game though, the Poles are coming on strong here and the back end in particular is very good.
