Vancouver, Friday, March 13, 2009.

Not all Fridays on the 13th are full of bad luck and misfortune, at least not for the Czech girls curling team. We started the match (tie-break) with the Danish girls a little bit shy, but in the second half of the first end we showed a fighting heart and turned the bad end into a deuce. In the next one our opponent played one and we played two more right away. The decision came early. In the sixth end, at 6 : 2 for the Czechs, Neergaard chose an angle raise but missed, letting the Czechs into 8 : 2. After a brief hesitation of the hand serve and a huge relief and joy! The Czech team did it, after an excellent performance. After ten long years the Czech junior team directly qualified for the next World Championships (in 1999 it was the boys Nekovařík, Šulc, David, Uher, Kitzberger). The girls did it by winning three round robin matches and then winning the tie-break. Congratulations and thanks go not only to the team: Kubešková, Klímová, Plíšková, Jalovcová and Strnadová, but of course also to the coach Jirka Candr, who did a really great job. The time and effort he invested in the preparation paid off handsomely. Thanks Jirko! Preparation for the next World Championships has just started. photo: our number one, Terka signing, our driver Jennifer, the whole team
