Election to the CSC: Tracks and halls.

Supporting the construction of new curling lanes is a key activity that is at the forefront of the Association's articulated goals and objectives. Currently, curling is played on a total of nine lanes in the Czech Republic - four in Prague, two in Zbraslav and three in Brno. In addition to curling halls, regular curling training sessions are (will be) held on ice surfaces in Opočno (a replacement for Hradec Králové), Jičín, Trutnov and Plzeň. The above list of possibilities seems to be sufficient for a base of approximately six hundred registered players (including about one hundred and thirty juniors). However, given the considerable, repeated interest of many hundreds of potential curlers to play regularly, projects involving ice surfaces for curling should be actively sought and supported. Some could see the light of day as early as next year, others later. The Czech Curling Federation must lend a helping hand and create conditions for them that will allow our sport to not only stabilize its membership base, but also expand thanks to the growing capacity.
