It was decided yesterday afternoon that the Danes and Germans will qualify for the 2010 World Championship in Prague next January. The Danes, after losing both tie-breaks (the first one against the Czech Republic and the second one against France). The Russians did not give the Germans a chance in the tie-break and in the last round robin match they outplayed them sovereignly 8 : 1. The Russians and the Swedes are already out of the fight for the gold. The Russians lost to Canada with the last stone and the Americans decided their match with the Swedes also in the last end. The Czech team spent today relaxing and for example visited the observation tower with a revolving restaurant. Watching Briers 2009 on local TV is a welcome treat. The playoffs are already being played. The best so far is Kevin Martin and his team (quite unbelievably completely undefeated so far, for the second year in a row). The teams of Jeff Stoughton and Glenn Howard are now in a rematch for the final. Stoughton leads after six ends.
