Peak of the Czech season 2023/2024.

The Czech Republic Curling Championship is undoubtedly the highlight of the season for teams that either managed to make it through to the final rounds or qualified for them thanks to last year's championship title. The playoffs of the World Championship are important and significant not only for the participants, but also for fans, other curlers, family members, sports media and winter sports fans. This year, the tournament featured a diverse foursome. In the women's division, multiple champions from Sokol Liboc - Anna Kubeskova's team, seasoned matadors from Savona H, experienced players from Savona M who benefit from their previous national team experience, and young and untested Ledolam girls. In the men's team, the current national team led by Lukas Klima (Zbraslav) was joined by young shooters from Dion Alpha with skip Vít Chabičovský, Dion Young Boys playing in good form this year and, a bit surprisingly, Trutnov 1.

The basic part decided that Sokol Liboc and Zbraslav advanced directly to the finals in the women's and men's competitions respectively. The semi-final duels sent the women from Savona H and the men from Dion Alpha into the final battles. Both categories came to a 1-1 draw going into the third matches, with the winners being decided directly. The men made it a little earlier (9 : 3 after eight ends) and the title remains in the possession of the Zbraslav players (Klíma, Černovský, Jurík, Boháč, Klípa). The women played a decisive match until the very end, when a successful hit secured the ninth title in a row for Sokol Liboc captain Anna Kubešková (also Zelingrová, Baudyšová, Müllernová, Špundová, Pařízková).

Sportingly, the national championship can be described as a success. There were exciting matches, accurately played stones, complex game situations, close measurements and emotions. The teams showed that they know how to play curling. Overall, there are certainly several topics and themes that deserve discussion. For example, the absence of a national coach, the poor quality of the ice surface in conjunction with the stones, the almost reduced to zero media interest perhaps resulting from platonically conceived marketing, or the general technical condition of the sprawling hall. However, the Czech Curling Federation is aware of these circumstances and will find a solution soon.

Hail the winners, honor the losers. Good luck to everyone who loves curling.
