Yadranka's gonna take all the pictures.
The second training session at Richmond Curling Club, alongside the Scots, Norwegians and also not far from the fresh wheelchair world champions, took place at the same time as the first. We walked around town a bit beforehand and then browsed a few shops and had some good pizza. In the evening we visited the hall where the championship will be played. It's about a 10 minute drive from the hotel, a nice sports building on the outside, not quite finished inside, but quite practical and tastefully adapted for WJCC 09. The final touches to the ice surface were done under the supervision of Hans Wuthrich and Dave Merklinger (both already named icemakers for the 2010 Olympics, by the way) and from 7pm onwards the local superleague games could start. On one lane, the team also includes a nice blonde woman we already know from the Richmond Curling Club. She's Yadranka (girlfriend of Greg McAuley - 2000 World Champion) who will be providing full photo coverage of the WJC with her daughter. Tomorrow we have our first official practice. photo: Yadranka
