A trip along the Otago Rail. Match with Canada.

The Aritma team spent the afternoon on a road trip. The first destination was the historic railway station in Ranfurly, where we got tips for the next part of the route. Our destination (in the railway sense) was the village of Hyde, where one of the tunnels of the formerly operating railway that was the main thoroughfare of Central Otago. The weather was sunny and returning before noon was a must as we had Canada to look forward to, which we certainly could not underestimate. We made minor changes to our rituals (different underwear, different departure time, etc.) to help ensure a good outcome. The game had several highlights. The fall of Zdeněk Krampera (caused by the dislocation of the anti-slide, fortunately without injury), which caused the so called burning of the stone, and thus a more difficult situation in the third end was not the most important moment. After half we were down 2 : 5, mainly due to the unfinished draw skip against deuce. The break helped us. The improved performance of the whole team led to a 7 :7 score after eight ends. In the ninth end Krampera played guard and then a good come around just behind the tee line. Letal and Candra created a position from which to score a deuce or a four. The Canadian skip played the first stone very well, but the second gave us the opportunity to score a multiple. Kubeška's final skip shot moved the Canadian stone by 15 cm, and that was enough for a four! The tenth end was a controlled formality and the Czechs claimed their first win of the tournament. Now I'm sitting in the pub (how else can I do it, since this is the only place with a signal), and I'm looking forward to a steak, which they do really well here.
