Results of Czech teams and play-offs.

The final two rounds of the 2023 European Curling Championship regular season solved the mystery of the superstructure participants and determined the teams that will play in Group B next year. The women played their matches first thing in the morning. The Estonians defeated the Danes with the last stone of the match to jump to three wins. The Turks couldn't keep up with the Swedes and the Swiss beat the Italians. The Czechs earned a 9-8 win over the Germans in extra time. That put them in the top three with two wins. However, the criterion of mutual matches assigned the necessary eighth place to Turkey, leaving the Czechs in the first non-advancing place. The Germans finished tenth. The Norwegians and the Swedes, along with the Italians and the Swiss, made it to the extra stage. In the men's competition we were interested in the match between our team and the Dutch. After a 7 : 10 loss, the attention turned to lane C, where the Finns and the Scots fought fiercely for their chance. The match went into extra time and the result brought joy to the Scottish and Czech fans. The semi-finals will also be played by the Swiss and Swedes.

For our colours, this year's European Championship is history. Both teams had two wins and seven losses and had to fight until the last moment to stay in the elite group. The women were less fortunate than the men, two wins were not enough for them to succeed and they will leave the elite group for next year. The championship confirms the increasing performance of the Italian teams and the emergence of quality younger players, e.g. from Norway, Switzerland, Germany. The Czech teams may regret that they failed to create good conditions for preparation at home, especially at the beginning of the season. Training disruptions, technical difficulties and organisational confusion have had their impact on the forced complicated and unnecessarily exhausting adaptation process. And finally, the Italian and Swiss women won the final tonight.
