The traditional tournament that usually kicks off the competition season within the women's circuit of competitions organized by the World Curling Tour is played in September in Basel, Switzerland. This year sees a plethora of the best European/World teams. There are phenomenal world champions (Tirinzoni). There's the world silver medalists, the Norwegians (Roervik). There's one of the world's most successful teams in a long time, the Swedes (Hasselborg), but there are also outstanding Italians, Scots and Germans. From the Czech Republic, in addition to the women's national team Kubešková, there is also the junior team Farková.
rnOf the four matches played today, the Czech national team notched up one win, with the Kubešková team claiming the valuable scalp of the world's current second best team from Norway. This gave the women a good chance to qualify for the superstructure. The main part of the tournament is played in groups of five, so each team will play four matches, and after the so-called Round Robin, an overall ranking will be made, according to which the top eight teams will advance to the quarterfinals.
rnAnna, Míša, Aneta, Klara and Karolína will take on the Swiss team Hurlimann tomorrow in a match filmed by cameras. Farkova will face Jaggi (Switzerland) with guest Daniela Jentschova and Korea's Park to finish.
The Czech national team will close out the regular group at 3:30 against another Swiss team (Heinimann).
