Five curling coaches took part in a prestigious one-day workshop held on October 3, 2025, in Lecture Hall No. 5 of the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport at Charles University in Prague. The project, which is overseen by the Czech Red Cross for the Czech Republic, is currently running in eight European countries. The program was primarily aimed at youth coaches who work with the 10 to 24 age group. Representatives of various sports gathered. In addition to curling, football, basketball, and martial arts such as taekwondo were represented, as well as Sokol.
Targeted interactivity, including small games, team tasks, and personal presentations, helped create an atmosphere in which individual participants openly expressed their views on current issues that they repeatedly encounter in sports and beyond. The lecturers placed increased emphasis on topics such as integrating children into sports teams, creating a sense of security, recognizing situations that require resolution, etc. The audience learned how they can contribute to improving the mental health of young athletes, strengthen the resilience of their charges, and contribute to better integration of individuals into sports teams. There were also practical demonstrations of techniques that coaches of boys and girls should have in their repertoire. Lecturers Petra and Jirka mastered the entire, nearly eight-hour program with ease and at the end promised the opportunity to follow up on the topics discussed in the form of online consultations and chat.
