Both finals still looked the other way around at the half than how they turned out. It was especially pronounced in the men's final, where Archipov had an 8-foot draw to win the tournament but opted for a difficult double that sent the match into an extra end after knocking out a stone. The Russians went on to win, only for the final draw to be a long one, and the Norwegians celebrated. The Russians made a great come back and probably deservedly won the gold. In the women's category, the Czechs were absent, as the federation did not enter them in the competition. It's a pity, after a failed Europe, Czech women's curling could have fixed its taste and, most importantly, gained points for the next WUG.
