Slightly inconspicuously, and with a slight delay, the 2022/2023 curling season has begun. Seemingly minor because the Olympics are not around the corner. Internationally, we are interested to see what direction the WCF's strange decision to nominate the Hungarians and Spaniards to Group A of the European Championships will take. As there will be no qualification for the World Championships this is a problematic administrative intervention in the system of qualification for the World Championships. The Czech women have gone out into the world and are taking part in the WCT international tournament in Basel, Switzerland. Five players - Alžběta Zelingrová (Baudyšová), Klára Svatoňová, Míša Baudyšová, Aneta Müllernová and Lenka Hronová together with coach Karel Kubeská arrived at the venue on Thursday evening and appreciated the excellent quality of accommodation. The ice in the local hall together with the stones forms a whole that is diametrically different from what we know from Prague. Swing four and a half feet, late finish - that is, a significant stone finish at the end of the trajectory, a nice speed between 13.6 and 14.5 seconds. Moreover, the same quality of ice across the entire width of the track allows for a creative approach to the game. We struggled somewhat and needed some time to get used to it. The game against the Scots was not enough to do that, so after the loss, we analyzed the situation and with increased confidence we took on our traditional rival - the Germans (skip Jentsch). After seven ends and a seven point lead, the Germans shook hands and we are now one - one after the first day.
