We know the national champions 2022/2023.

Czech curling has new national champions/champions. The teams Kubešková and Klíma defended their titles. I'm talking about "traditional", i.e. "quad" curling. This is certainly good news for the fulfillment of hopes placed in the ongoing Olympic cycle. This year's European Championships in November, which both Czech teams will enter in the elite group, will be a qualification for the World Championships, which will distribute the first Olympic points to the participating countries. We are at the beginning of a two-year decisive period and the important thing is whether we can mobilise the resources, capabilities, people, partners and sponsors to effectively generate the strongest squad, both players and the implementation team.

It's been more than a month since the new champions were crowned, the season is rapidly coming to a close and we'll soon be closing up shop for the summer shutdown. Every week that passes, even every day that it's not clear what's next for the current season is a problem. The committee's efforts to initiate several meetings with representatives of the teams (including MD) that placed in the top three spots in the WCR are commendable, but overdue. The material accompanying the debate itself contains some serious factual errors, including inaccuracies in the dates. In addition, there is a lack of clarity on the issue of filling the position of national coach, which is hindering the development of a plan for coordinated preparation of national teams. There is a need for a rapid and constructive debate on how to use the rest of the season in a way that is attractive and effective for the teams - and not just the national teams. There are a total of five open "union dates" in the calendar of events until the end of May that have not yet been specified. It is now time to fill these dates with specific activities.

Starting at the Olympic Games is the logical goal of every athlete, it is the goal towards which everyone who has chosen the path of a top athlete sets their aspirations. The higher goal is to succeed when participating in the Olympics. Let's help our association create the conditions that will help our players, coaches and officials and make their hard work easier. The eventual success will belong to all those who have contributed, even if just a little bit.
