What about a forced break?

For the average Czech curler at the performance level, the season ends sometime towards the end of April. It lasts about eight months, as it usually starts in the second week of September. However, some of us are on the ice as early as mid-August and finish in May. And that's almost nine and a half months. Kind of like a slightly extended pregnancy. What about the rest of the time? The summer period is usually dedicated to conditioning so that we can safely make it through the next season. But we also need to think about rest, relaxation and holidays. That is, if our employer gives us some time off. Most elite curlers - amateurs consume their entire vacation on tournaments, championships, camps, travel and preparation. There's nothing left for vacations and we go to work in the heat of the moment. But now everything is different. Something very unusual has happened! We had a day off in March, we will have one in April, not to mention May. The main problem with all this is that we don't know how to use the time off, how to time the preparation, because we don't know when the championships and international competitions will be. There is definitely room for building up fitness reserves, studying the game practices of the best teams in the world, evaluating team stats, buying new jerseys, creating and editing websites, FB and Insta profiles. And it's also time to spend time with our friends and loved ones that we have almost no time for during the season. Next year we will be eager for your support again and we will of course count on you not to abandon us in our efforts. So we'll just enjoy you now (with a veil and at a distance) so that we won't have any remorse again from September onwards.
