The early round starts at 9:00 and we play against the Swiss team Schori. We know Irene well, having played against her many times over the years, whether in the mixed doubles category, as a triple in the Feltcher team or as a skip on her own team. It's up and down, and the deciding factor is probably the sixth end, in which we get a three. In the seventh we stave off a loss with a precise tap back for one, and we don't play the extra end because we're an inch worse than our opponent in the eighth end. So we have one win and two losses. It gets complicated. The second match on Saturday is against the young Russian girls (Rumjantseva). Very evenly matched, and we have to double last to win. It's going well and we are still alive for the quarterfinals, especially thanks to a good DSC. Elishka made her debut on the WCT circuit. After the match we take a break in the form of food and rest. Before the evening match we head out on the 400m tartan track in complete darkness. Bizarre, somewhat. I have the added bonus of watching the other Czech girls who are here (Miklikova) play against Team Wuest. Even a loss by the Czech team means qualification for tomorrow's quarterfinals, against Team Kovaleva (Russia). We still had to fight for the quarterfinals against team Hurlimann (skip is one of the daughters of the legendary Swiss Olympic champion). Despite a slight wobble in the sixth end, when our opponent took one, we were able to lead the match to a calm win, which meant progression. This is the third time this year. Tomorrow at 8.30 against the Schori team.
