Sunday morning we spend on the ice in the same rink as the Koreans. The Asian team, which does not lack the obligatory Kim or Lee, has presented itself very well so far, beating the Hungarians and all other teams except the Swedes (4:5), and so far has stood a chance to advance. We needed to throw a great LSD, but it failed. However, the Koreans were even worse in the end and we had the advantage going into the first end. After the LSD, we suspected that even a win probably wouldn't put us in the relegation places. For there to be any hope, even in theory, we definitely needed a win. It was a game in which neither team scored more than one, but we managed to score five times, and that was enough. In the afternoon we went to see the progress of the matches in the other groups, but we didn't get any help from anyone else. In the evening, with Ondra on skip and Jakub on one, we crushed the Romanians, but the results on the other lanes were not favourable. We finished fourth in the group, which is very disappointing for us. The position certainly does not reflect the quality of the team, even compared to the teams from the other groups. In practically all available statistics we are doing very well. Except for DSC. That made the difference. The Swedes and the Hungarians will advance from our group. Japan, Canada, New Zealand, Denmark, USA and Ukraine. The Koreans ended up missing the quarterfinals at the DSC by 31 millimeters. We can only go on endlessly about the end of the game against the Swedes, when we narrowly - and perhaps literally - missed out on a win that would have put us top of the group. The boys fought until the last moment in the tournament and deserve recognition for a more than worthy representation. Vít Chabičovský, Ondřej Bodlák, Kryštof Žďárský, David Škácha and Jakub Matějíček did a good job, showed quality and have something to build on. Thanks to Wade Scoffin, Ondřej Bodlák Sr. and everyone who supported the team.
rnThe photos in the gallery are just a bland mix of what I've taken occasionally, on the spur of the moment and unfocused. The highlight is the confirmation of Jakub's ability to throw an excellent LSD, the second best ever at the championship.
