Semi-finals - Ostersund 2022.

Since the Czech men are already finished, the attention of the Czech curling fans was focused on the women's semi-finals played at the Ostersund Curling Club. From nineteen thirty onwards, the teams of Lithuania and Estonia faced each other on lane E and the Slovenian women on lane D. Before the actual match, all participating teams had the opportunity to practice on the lane with predetermined sets of stones. The whole afternoon program was a little bit shifted in time, because in the men's part of the competition additional ends - extra ends were played. In addition to the five manned lanes, a sort of "sixth" was added in the form of a live broadcast of the men's bronze medal match between Italy and Sweden, in which the Italians, the players of skip Retornaz, were the lucky ones in the end. But for us, the important things were happening right before our eyes. The women's semi-final had a decent crowd and many times well-played stones were rewarded with applause and loud, chanted cheers. The game was for qualification to Group A of the European Championships for next year, and this is a highly prestigious affair. The Czech men could tell a tale of how, after the unfortunate loss of the A team six years ago, it took four years to return and three different Czech national teams cut their teeth. The nervous semi-final duels of this year's European Championship culminated in the final ends. The Estonians won narrowly in the extra end, and moments before that Bětka, Míša, Aneta and Klára happily raised their hands above their heads. The victory over the tough Slovenes was hard to come by, but the end belonged to us and that's why we will play for the gold tomorrow morning.
